The first product I tried by Josie Maran was her Argan Oil Moisturizing Stick. It was like a big stick of lip balm except better, promising to moisturize chapped lips, soothe dry skin, tame fly aways, alleviate itching and stinging from insect bites, moisturize dry cuticles, relieve chafing skin, soothe stretch marks, calm sunburn, soothe waxed skin, and much more. Bliss had a similiar 20-in-1 balm on the market at the time, but I was drawn to the organic, natural, and paraben-free ingredients in Josie Maran’s version. I purchased the big stick for about $22 from Sephora. It came in a shiny rose gold tube promising to solve all of my moisturizing needs. I used the stick for few different purposes: as a lip balm, undereye moisturizer, cuticle softener, to tame my unruly eyebrows, basically everything that was promised on the tube. I repurchased this product multiple times (it is no longer carried by Sephora now, unfortunately), and I found myself drawn to some of the other items in the Josie Maran skincare line.
At the time using oil as a moisturizer and facial cleanser had just become popular, and Josie Maran had introduced the Argan Cleansing Oil. This coincided with me reading about the oil cleansing method on Crunchy Betty so I purchased the cleansing oil and immediately started using it, excited to see if it would bring any changes. I was extremely happy to find that after the first use my skin felt smoother and more moisturied, way less dried out than it normally felt after using even the creamiest cleanser. This was back in the summer of 201. Since then I have trying to re-create my own version and purchased a few bottles from other companies. But I always end up coming back to Josie Maran’s Argan Cleansing Oil. Every time I end up with a large break out that I can’t seem to get under control it’s because I’ve switched away from this cleanser hoping that I could try something new.
I have purchased several different products from Josie Maran’s line. Along with the Argan Moisturizing Stick and Argan Cleasing Oil, I have used the Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil, 100% Pure Argan Oil, Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment, Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder, Bear Naked Wipes, Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee, and Argan Oil Hair Serum.
The Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder was an impulse buy from January, but I still have about half the bottle left and I love using it. I keep it in the shower and use 1-3 times a week, depending on how my skin is feeling. I sprinkle about a dime-sized amount of the powder into my hand and gentle mix with water or Argan Cleansing Oil if my skin is feeling dry. My face feels extremely smooth after using this product almost like I’ve had some form of micro dermabrasion. And it doesn’t irritate my breakouts as long as I scrub with a light hand.
The newest product I’ve tried from Josie Maran’s line is the Nirvana Hydrating Mist. I’m a HUGE fan of facial mists, and I’m always purchasing the latest versions. It just feels so luxurious to spritz onto your face after cleansing, in the middle of a hot day and after using oil blotting sheets to give my face a nice natural glow. I just ran out of my Beautycounter Rosewater Uplifting Spray, so I decided to give this a try. I’m glad I purchased it when I did because it’s out of stock at Sephora. The first thing I noticed with this product is how beautiful the bottle is, fitting in with the normal design of her products with a rose gold tint. The mist smells reminiscent of sweet coconut water. The bottle sprays in a very fine steady mist, similiar to Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir (another AMAZING face mist). After spraying onto my face, I immediately rub in my Beautycounter Radiance Firming Complex and Beautycounter Lustro Face Oil 3.
I’m sure I will add more Josie Maran products to my vanity in the future, but for now I have these three mainstays – Argan Cleansing Oil, Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder, and Nirvana Hydrating Mist.
