Fall/Winter 2015 Capsule Wrap Up

It’s been awhile since I talked to y’all about my capsule wardrobe. Even though I haven’t had a public conversation, there has been a lot of activity privately surrounding the whole process. I first introduced my Fall 2015 Capsule Wardrobe with the intention that I wear it from mid-October to mid-December, depending on the weather. Being on a tight budget and not truly needing a new winter clothing led me to decide to combine my Fall and Winter capsule wardrobes for 2015 (and into 2016). Most of the pieces were going to overlap so in December, I added in a couple sweaters and some snow boots I had been storing. Flash forward – it’s April and I am finally saying goodbye to the pieces in my F/W 15 capsule. It’s been 5 months of wearing about the same pieces every two weeks. That kind of redundancy definitely makes it easier to decide what you love and what you can do without. In early February, I decided it was time to really edit down the capsule even more. I removed a few blouses, pants, and a blazer. For the two months my capsule consisted of:

  • 9 tops, 4 bottoms, and 1 dress
  • 2 pairs of boots and 3 pairs of flats
  • 1 coat, 1 puffer vest, 1 wrap sweater, and 1 blazer
  • 2 scarfs and 2 belts
  • 2 necklaces, 2 earrings, 1 watch, and 1 bag

My F/W capsule ended with exactly 33 items. I had never set out to follow the rules of Project 333, yet somehow 33 was my magic number.

I’m taking this as a sign that it’s time to abandon the idea of doing an all-seasons, year-long capsule wardrobe and go back to the short, but sweet 3 month capsule. I’ll be sharing my Spring 2016 capsule this Wednesday so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!

  1. Lauren! So in love with your Matt & Nat bag and your accessories! And those rain/snow boots! Are they from Sorel? I’ve been eyeing very similar Sorel boots since the winter and I might just invest in a pair come Winter 2016. I commend you for your all-year-long capsule, but I imagine looking forward to a fresh revamp every 3 months would be energizing! SO EXCITED FOR YOUR SPRING CAPSULE! I’m really considering filming my Spring capsule this Thursday 😉

    • I am definitely pleased with how well I edited down my accessories…only things I LOVE! The boots are from LL Bean. I bought them in Nov 2013, and I am so pleased with how comfortable they are and how good they look after so much wear. Kind of like your Reeboks, I would advise anyone to purchase them immediately without question! 🙂
